Made me think
I found the sessions useful...I did....it really has made me think about how I am interacting with the staff and how I can connect more with each one. It really is powerful stuff. Truly. I find myself using some of these strategies even in person
Thank you
Thank you Sam, we really appreciate you facilitating our group.
Deeper Connections
These strategies have helped to make deeper connections with staff members. One thing I want to look at moving forward is building time for these activities into the agendas of meetings during the week so they can be continually be revisited and become part of the...
A new way to run a meeting
It is easy to build agendas for meetings that lack the connection. I find that I am constantly now beginning with an activity such as these we are using. I appreciate that as an admin team we are taking time to connect in this way as well.
Remember to slow down
This has reminded us to slow down and take time for conversation with each other/to build relationships instead of just "work" all the time
Breaking down walls
People are more ready to engage in the work when we start a session with such an activity that breaks down walls and gives time to process emotions and make connections before digging into the work ahead.
Tone of meetings has changed
I've implemented the high lows to start my end of season coaches meeting, and I've found it sets the tone for how the meetings go and opens up an authentic dialogue between myself and my coaches.
Crazy Schedules
This information is so important, but one that is probably the easiest to neglect due to our crazy schedules. We need to make a concerted effort to make this work a priority and something that we are committed to continue.
Supporting colleagues
My implementing some of the strategies we are learning about bit more about colleagues to support during these times.
Relationships and connections are so important!
These reminders about connections/relationships are so important. It can feel difficult to fit it all in, but without relationships and connection, the rest of the work is SO MUCH HARDER!
Positive
I appreciate Sam's perspective and positive feedback that he shares with our group.
I felt safe sharing
It has been great to get to know better the other people with whom I work. Timothy did a great job making it feel like a welcoming environment in which we could feel safe sharing.
Extremely Rewarding
Working with Jill Brown and her colleagues from Generation Text Online has been extremely rewarding for the members of our leadership team. The strategies and lessons endorsed by GTO are relevant, thought provoking, and engaging. The training offers participants an opportunity to connect with colleagues, experience personal growth, and place our organization on a path to success.”
I love the methods used in this program
I love the methods Ms.Brown uses to incorporate a lesson of showing empathy, compassion and active listening skills.
I have learned so much!
Meeting in small groups a couple days a week has helped me learn new skills, qualities, etc. The main goal is to prepare not only me, but all students for the future.
COVID-19 Effects
For a year now we have escaped our regular lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I can speak for everyone when saying that quarantine has affected us mentally, socially, and physically.
GT is an excellent approach to preventing bullying
Generation Text Online is a proactive way of addressing bullying related issues/communications that occur routinely, whether it be between student to student or student to teacher.
Students Respond Positively
Students haver responded positively to the activities and assignments embedded in the program, leading to rich conversations.
Thank you!!
Thank you, Jill. We appreciate the progress that has been made with our School 2 students.
Energetic and Experiential
Jill Brown provides an energetic and experiential training that captures the essence of the Generation Text On-Line curricula. Educators are sure to walk away with valuable insight and understanding of this increasingly relevant 15 week program. In a rapidly changing, pluralistic society, the needs of the 21st century learner are constantly evolving and Generation Text sets out to meet that need.
Persistence keeps the program going
Randy, a boy at School 2 has been struggling (basically failing most subjects) in school for several years. When I met him his teachers, counselors, parents and administration were frustrated and simply did not know how to support and motivate him academically. He was always forgetting things, not turning in work, failing tests and disorganized. Last year in lunch bunch we worked on self-advocacy. This email is a testament to his advocating for himself…he continuously went to the counselor’s office asking to bring back Gen Text because our work with him supports him academically, socially and emotionally! How awesome is this?????
Lunch Bunch success
The students you meet with in the “lunch bunch” are so excited to go to the program each week.
SEL is part of our everyday curriculum
Each activity is truly a joyous learning experience for teachers and students alike.
A school district with SEL success
Our students have been exposed to the opportunity to discover differing perspectives others may have and the rationale behind them.

Valuable insight and understanding
Ultimately, the skills have a direct impact on decision making, self-advocating, communication efforts, and positively effecting relationships.
Students feel heard – with good results!
Working with students in a small group gives me the opportunity to understand my students more deeply on a social, emotional and academic level.
An absolute joy!
It was so inspiring to watch you all doing what you are passionate about. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
Builds rapport and relationships from an empathetic perspective
The GTO approach has resulted in students understanding one another more effectively as well as teachers understanding their students and the motivations that drive their behavior to learn and behave most effectively.
This is good stuff and it is definitely powerful in the way that changes students’ lives.
It was awesome to share the info with our folks in Nebraska schools and colleges! You have every right for your heart to grow big. This is good stuff and it is definitely powerful in the way that changes students’ lives. I’m proud of you, Jill, and proud to know you!!
Mentors leave lasting impressions on students’ lives!!
Jill, I agree that mentors leave lasting impressions on students’ lives!! Your company does great work!
Small Groups are so beneficial
Attending small groups every week has been such a benefit to my life. In our small group we have an opportunity to release stress and anything we are overwhelmed with by sharing it with everyone.
I would 100% recommend it
Being in Gen Text small groups in high-school has many beneficial aspects. I would 100%, recommend it to other students considering the various benefits in people skills.
My experience with Generation Text has given me a framework for living
Being a part of the Generation Text Online mentor program has taught me the importance of being mentally and physically happy.
This week, we are trying Chapter 3, while still doing high-lows on Mondays and Fridays (high/lows about the weekend on Mondays and high/lows about our week at school on Friday afternoons). Consistent and patient active listening is still a work in progress but a bit better with each time we do an activity. I’m proud of them 🙂
