COVID-19 Effects

For a year now we have escaped our regular lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I can speak for everyone when saying that quarantine has affected us mentally, socially, and physically. However, joining a Generation Text small group and interacting with my teachers virtually has made me gain my hope back to improve my wellness. This group made me express myself and create a relationship with my mentors that have helped me stay stable during these hard times. Along with opening up and understanding my happiness, I have listened to my peers and their conflicts which we all came together to create a solution. Not only do we learn great communication skills while revealing our opinions and ideas, we have learned how to develop valuable skills that will continue to help us in the future.

College and Career Readiness is another major topic that I have improved in by focusing on abilities I need to pressure for my path after high school. We have discussed many different plans for the future and were able to make decisions for ourselves. These decisions will create a huge impact on our way to success. I also have realized the true importance of problem solving, this is because it is a step closer to becoming independent which will help me in college and in my career. I can finally say that contributing to group meetings with Generation Text has made me confident with many skills that will stick with me in the next phase of my life.
